Hostility

United Lands has a custom built hostility system, which we'll get all into in this page!

What is Hostility?

Hostility is, as the name implies, the measure of hostile/aggressive a player is. Each player has a sort of 'hostility index', which has 3 main stages, ranging from 1-21 hostility points. You can gain these points by killing players, and the amount of points you gain depend on the situation (more on that below). This is not only a measure of how dangerous/untrustworthy a player is, but it also makes their towns more vulnerable to Wars. If you have too many hostile players in your town/nation, the cost for declaring war on you becomes much lower.

Not only that, but having any hostile players in your town automatically renders your nation and town from being neutral. I.E, anyone can declare a war on you

Your hostility points degrade every 24 hours (or every towny day if you're online) by 1 point, but after a certain stage there's no return.

Hostility Stages

There are 3 statuses depending on what your current hostility level is at, they are as follows:

  • Defensive: The default stage for every new player. This stage has an orange shield icon as a symbol (🛡). Your hostility degrades every 24 hours, and is increased by 1 point for any type of kill.

  • Aggressive: Follows the defensive stage, and appears after you get 7 hostility points (7 kills). It has a red crossed swords icon (⚔), which gets redder the more you transition into the next stage. Hostility still degrades as normal, however kills towards Defensiveplayers increase your hostility by 2 points instead of 1.

  • Hostile: The final stage. It appears after reaching 15 points (15 kills). It has a red skull icon (☠), which devolves into darker and darker red, before eventually becoming black at level 21. Hostile players cannot have their hostility degraded regardless of how long they wait. This status extends all the way up until 21, which is the max.

Commands

There are a few commands which help with the hostility system, here are detailed instructions on each command!

  • /pvp on - This command is only usable once by new players. By default, you are given a 24 hour 'immunity period', you can force disable this immunity by running this command, but after that there is no going back.

  • /pvp degrade on/off - This command is used to control the degradability of your hostility points. Its for those who want to rack up their hostility without worrying about it degrading on overtime. This has no effect if you've reached the 'Hostile' status.

  • /pvp status - This command prints out your current status (defensive, aggressive, or hostile), and the amount of points you have.
