Image Maps

Find out what image maps are and how to use them.

The following article has information related to the two Image Map related perks - standard and animated. Standard image maps can be purchased from the store at a cost of €10, and animated image maps can be purchased as an addon to the standard perk for an additional €5.

Standard Image Maps

Image maps allow you to place any* image you want onto a map and have it displayed on the server. Useful for players who want to add the most amount of detail to their build or that just want a bit of fun.

Features

  • Can define a custom height and width of the image map up to 10x10.

  • Can overlay a transparent image on to existing vanilla maps.

  • Large, multi-image maps can be used as a single item.

  • If you have the invisible item frames upgrade, image maps with a transparent background can be used.

Restrictions and Specifications

  • PNG, JPEG, and WEBP are supported.

Animated Image Maps

These are special image maps that are animated.

Features

  • Everything mentioned previously but can also be animated!

Restrictions and Specifications

  • PNG, JPEG, WEBP, and GIFs are supported.

  • All GIFs are limited to 20fps.

Tutorial

To create your first image map, first get a direct image link. This can be done by right-clicking the desired image and selecting copy image address. Then, run the command /if create [Map Name] [Image Link] [Width] [Height] combined.

Where:

  • [Map Name] is the name of the image map.

  • [Image Link] is the direct image or gif URL.

  • [Width] is the desired width of the image map, in blocks.

  • [Height] is the desired height of the image map, in blocks.

  • Optional, add the word 'combined' at the end of the command if you have a multi-image map and would like it to act as one item.

If the image link is valid, and you have entered the command correctly - you will receive a map item. Now simply put it into an empty item frame and have your map displayed! If you are using a combined map, use the top-left item frame to place the whole thing. Creating an image map will cost one empty map per item frames used.

Right click the desired image and select 'copy image address'.

Rules

Though this is a sponsor perk, there are still rules and restrictions you must follow when using the feature. Breaching any of these may result in punishments - including removal of the perk entirely. There are no refunds so ensure you understand these before buying.

  1. Follow server-wide rules regarding content - inappropriate maps are not allowed.

  2. You may distribute maps freely to members of your town and other players with the same perk. You may not give them to players without the perk.
